DATE: November 26, 2020... OCCASION: it's a quarantine Thanksgiving--enough said... GLASSWARE Wychwood pint... sounds its arrival with a fizzing, popping beige head that foams and bubbles appreciably... it holds staunchly for a few minutes--appropriate for a day-old uncapped growler... its body, a handsome mahogany whose darkening body still allows some daylight, affording the view of tiny bubbles... first whiff is robust bread malts, with pretzel, caramel, roasted nuts and cracker that compliments the hors d'oeuvres well, especially the smoked-bacon gouda... singular in is aroma, with little to suggest hops save a slice of orange and some cranberry mixed in... its body is hearty but agreeable, pleasantly textured and impactful in the mouth and backside... more effervescent than expected, Mr. Brown isn't a laid-back gent, though he appears as a 4.5% ABV kind of guy... it's sweet, roasted and leaves some buttery notes at the lips... the nuttiness is soft but noticeable, its toffee also sweet and rewarding... this is as good a brown as I have had in recent memory, lively and flavorful, avoiding the watered-down tea version while keeping its ABV an all-day friendliness... Mr. Brown may only be around late fall, but I hope he returns year after year...
