DATE: May 14, 2022... OCCASION: having toasted Pat into retirement and run the boys to various entertainments, I settle in with another Man Skirt I added to BA--keep them coming, Joe! GLASSWARE: Samuel Smith pint... pours an opaque, dark velvet body with red glare around its base... its head is a thing of beauty, a cream(y) finger of thick milkshake that staunchly refuses to hedge... sweet toasted oats, light coffee and chocolate, some sweet toffee too, and hints of earthiness bring the drinker to the places this came from... licorice as well... its head acts as a welcome wave, leading a soft, textured mouthfeel that sustains long after it's sipped... a hint of warmth late, almost for effect, while its drinkability flaunts as an asset... its flavor profile fulfills its aroma's promise, with toasted cereal, sweet toffee, licorice, bolder chocolate, and pudding--it's an accessible dessert beer that hits a sweet spot with its ABV and taste... I would put only the Black Kilt above it, recognizing that Man Skirt has produced a nice run of stouts in the past (Safe Word, Bean Counter, Hackettstout, BK, their version of Black Is Beautiful)...
