Our German style Maerzen is German at heart, but has some American attributes that differentiates it from other beers. We use a traditional German lager yeast with this beer, but ferment and age it a little warmer to create vibrant aromas and flavors. Enjoy the bouquet of black cherries, toffee, and nutty aromas and coordinating flavors. This one is our most malty beer yet, so expect a nice full body and very slight hop notes.

12oz can with no date on the can (typically on the 6pk holders from 3 Nations).
1 finger off white head with decent retention, falls slowly to a solid cap. Amber body with very good clarity. Spotty lace.
Caramel, brown bread, brown sugar, toffee, lots of Maillard.
Malt and more malt. Flavors similar to the aromas and add in some dark fruit mid-palate and a hint of spice.
Marzen from the jump.
Medium body with appropriate carbonation. Some sweetness in a lengthy finish...too sweet for me.
Okay.

Looks okay, nice dark amber, mostly clear. Very small white head with absolutely zero retention.
Smells sweet, Munich malts, about what you expect from the style.
I don’t even know where to start with how this tastes. It tastes off, it has an overbearing sweetness along with a putrid quality. Perhaps I got a bad single? It’s actually embarrassing if this is how they intended it to taste. I made some horrible home brew once and I think it still tasted better than this. The worst part is the aftertaste, it just doesn’t want to go away. I don’t think I’d trust anything from this brewery in the future. Yuk

L-Pours a standard looking Märzen. There's a nice head that disputes quickly, and a mahogany rich amber colored body.
S- Some nice malt and cracker right up front, followed by some grain and hop.
T- Not too much, honestly. Pretty grainy. A bit sweet. Some malt. Maybe some caramel and cracker? Just a bit of bud light-like aftertaste I'm not too fond of.
F-Medium bodied.
O-Probably the' okayest" Octoberfest I've ever had. Really not much else to say. It isn't terrible, but I wouldn't have again.

From a can. Medium brown with a few bubbles while pouring. Caramel malt smell. Fairly light in body with low carbonation. Caramel malt and a little bit of cherry flavor. Reminds me of a brown ale -- mild, malty, and a little sweet. Fine on drinkability, but not exactly what I was expecting.

Look: Pours a very deep amber with a noticeable reddish tint. Very thin, 1 finger of off white head.

Smell: Reminds me of the Kaiser, almost like a boozy crescent roll and some slight hints of the dark cherries mentioned on the can.

Taste: Unfortunately, this one loses the plot stylistically for me. Noticeable grain and breadiness up front on the malt that is immediately overwhelmed by a cherry sweetness that is incredibly offputting for a märzen. Some earthy hops manage to peek through at the end, but the lingering sweetness doesn't allow for it to stick around long.

Feel: Medium body with a lot of creamy sweetness that lingers on the tongue. Not bad to drink at all.

Overall: Not my favorite local Oktoberfest mainly due to the overbearing sweetness and the strangeness of the flavor profile.

Poured from a can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear deep amber color with a one finger head of puffy off-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a soft pretzel like smell with tons of doughy and lightly toasted grainy aromas. Along with these smells comes some caramel and an herb, as well as toast and some almost salty like smells. A lightly sweetened pretzel smell overall.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready malt flavor that is backed by some caramel and harvest fruit sweetness. The breadiness is of a lightly toasted nature and is also joined by a bit of the doughiness that was detected in the nose. As the taste advances forward, the doughiness and caramel get slightly stronger all while the toasted flavors get a bit weaker. A touch of an earthy hop joins at the very end, and with the transition of the sweet and malt, it leaves one with a moderately malty and smooth taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly thicker and creamier with a carbonation level that is average. For the maltiness of the brew the feel is good and makes for a nice cool weather sipping brew.

Overall – Somewhat on the more malty and sweet side, but with a good easy drinking nature. Not the best O’fest out there, but certainly at least worth a try.

Deep clear copper. No visible carbonation, minimal head.
Nose is pleasant bread malts, slightly spiced.
Taste is like black cherries, just like the brewery’s description. Also nutty, with light caramel notes.
Feel is smooth medium body, low carbonation, yet slightly sticky.
Great tasting and robust Octoberfest beer featuring nutty malts and dark cherries, just thin and flat in appearance despite the mouthfeel barely defying that.
