Canned 12/26/23. Drank 2/7/24. Same name and same hops, but the ABV is listed at 9% and IBUs 100+. Maybe just a different batch? it's blue with surf boards? anyway...
Pour is a crystal clear ever so lightly copper. big fluffy slightly off white cap of foam. excellent retention.
Nose is a lovely wave of pine, citrus rind, grapefruit, dank, resinous hops
Tastes great. Firm bitterness. citrus hops, pine, dank, grapefruit. Hint of out of place sweetness on the finish. Good, not great. A bit of warming alcohol in the belly.
Smooth crisp on the palate.

The alcohol is present, the malt sweetness is present, and the somewhat stone-fruity and pineappley hops are present…in that order. A redeeming quality is a note of honey. Quite syrupy. But big and abrasive this is, something to try, but not my biggest cup of tea and I can see why it wouldn’t be for many.
