Picked this up in Texas not too long ago, when I was slowly making my way back home through Fort Stockton. Saw this beer and though it would be a novelty, although it was much more plain than I would have liked. The alcohol was hidden well and this was fine to drink, but the spice, sweetness, and punch that I was hoping for never really materialized!
Of course, this poured dark and thick with an offsetting tan head that complemented the liquid decently. Very little lacing was left behind, as that was a sign of what was to come. Lots of milk chocolate, anisette, cocoa powder, and a hint of booze in the nose as the taste closely followed suit. A bit of an exotic flavor took hold as this warmed up but for the most part, this was a bit thin, lightly carbonated, and quite mellow as a slight creamy and cloying aspect emerged in the aftertaste.
It would have been easy to enjoy another one of these after finishing this off - even on a warm summer's day such as this one. No date was written on the bottom of the can and all this needed was a churro to dip into it. The artwork on the label was fitting for this spirit of this beer, but I would have wished for some more powder, heat, or intensity to bring out this beer's full potential. Worth a go once as a nightcap!
