Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a one finger head of puffy white foam. The head fades rather slowly over time, leaving a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell -The aroma is very heavy of a sweet tropical fruit smells of tangerine, mango and pineapple mixed with lots of orange juice and grapefruit. Along with these aromas comes some light doughiness and a little bit of an herbal hop. All in all, the aroma is like tropical fruit juice with a touch of hop. Quite inviting.
Taste – The taste starts out with a very strong showing of a doughy and bready flavor mixed with the big tropical fruit and orange juice flavors that were anticipated from the nose. There is a decent showing of hop upfront, being mainly of a grapefruit and herbal nature, but containing some light floral notes as well. As the taste advances the grapefruit and herbal get slightly stronger, all while the floral gives way to a bit of pine. At the end some more doughiness and a touch of apricot and grape join the tropical fruits and with just a tint of booziness, one is left with a somewhat tropical fruit juice screwdriver like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is lower. Overall, for the robust flavors and high abv. the feel is good and makes for a nice slow sipper.
Overall – A very flavorful and robust sipper with tons of citrus, tropics, and great drinkability. Definitely one to try if the opportunity arises.
