A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark cola brown approaching jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy mocha head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of freshly brewed freshly roasted coffee with moderate aromas of roasted malts, milk chocolate, caramel malts, and lactose sweetness. Hints of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of roasted malts and light flavors of caramel malts with a moderate to slightly heavier than moderate flavors of lactose + caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of freshly brewed freshly roasted coffee. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of milk chocolate + earthy hops. Light to moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which fades away slowly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

O: Very enjoyable with a really pleasant aroma and flavor of freshly brewed freshly roasted coffee without a lot of bitterness. Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Really nice - not overly sweet from the lactose but well balanced. The fact that it is on nitro makes it even smoother and creamier.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a small amount of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing to speak of.

S: A decent aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and hops.

T: Tasted of a mild amount of hops (barely noticeable), lots of roasted malt, a below average shot of coffee (less than expected), some light chocolate notes, and a creamy quality. The biggest problem with the flavor is that it's a thin, watery mess - none of the ingredients seem to be underrepresented.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth, if thin, finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Kind of a disappointing beer. It has its good qualities, but it could have been better.

I was at Duck Rabbit when they co-released this, it is a colab. This is a great Coffee infused Milk Stout on Nitro. The best way I can describe it is smooooooooth like some good jazz. It goes down easy, even in the summer, and the cans are also Nitro if you can get some (they are probably only going to be very local). I am happy that Ryan came home to NC, because it means we have another great brewer in Eastern NC. Welcome home to Ryan and his family.
