Had on draft, after work on a cold, dreary, rainy Saturday afternoon.
Applaud the effort here to do something a little different (I believe I read this was inspired by the brewer’s wedding cake), but feel like this just comes up a little short for my tastes. It’s a New England style dipa, with a slightly fruitier and sweeter taste than I’m used to (and I’m not a huge fan of fruited ipas generally anyway). One of those beers that did grow on me a bit the more I drank it. Totally drinkable, and still definitely an “A”” for effort, like I said, just not something i’m Itching to revisit anytime soon.

A: Pours a moderately hazy medium to dark golden copper (almost tea-like) in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass, moderate to heavy amounts of medium sized light colored particles in suspension, and moderate garnet red + medium golden yellow + amber colored highlights. The beer has two finger tall dense creamy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering a little more than 90% of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of herbs (lavender + chamomile) along with moderate aromas of lemon zest citrus and blueberry. Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit + herbal + tropical/mango + floral + pine/resin hops. Light to moderate aromas of pale + wheat + oat malts with a moderate amount of lactose sweetness.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of pale + wheat + oat malts with a moderate amount of lactose sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of lemon zest citrus + blueberry and slightly stronger than moderate flavors of herbs (lavender + chamomile). Finally there are moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit + herbal + tropical/mango + floral + pine/resin hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly leaving lingering herbal + citrus hop flavors.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly soft mid-body with a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and quite enjoyable - though a touch sweeter than I was expecting. A really nice combonation of herbs, hops, and lactose sweetness.

This is light, smooth, fruity, tea/like. On the sweeter side. Not much hop presence.
