A: Pours an opaque yet still clear very dark jet black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint very dark chestnut brown + very dark cola brown + dark garnet red + dark amber colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy dark mocha head that reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of dark + roasted + lightly charred + bready malts with a moderate amount of dark fruit (raisin + plum) sweetness. Moderate aromas of dark chocolate + cocoa + roasted coffee. Hints of Belgian yeast similar to what you would find in a Belgian Strong Dark Ale or Quadruple.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of dark + roasted + lightly charred + bready malts with a moderate amount of dark fruit (raisin + plum) sweetness. That is followed by slightly heavier than light flavors of Belgian yeast similar to what you would find in a Belgian Strong Dark Ale or Quadruple. Finally there is a moderate flavor of dark chocolate + cocoa + roasted coffee. No discernible hop flavor (maybe slightly earthy) and a light to moderate amount of roasty bitterness which does not linger for too long leaving charred + roasted malts with dark fruit sweetness lingering.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth, almost creamy.

O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength and decent not overly heavy mouthfeel. Very enjoyable with lots of malts complexity and a very nice example of the style. Definitely would have this one again.

Pours jet black with a dark brown head, which doesn’t last long. Rich and creamy body. Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Notes of chocolate, raisins, and leather. Strong malt character, and a sweet, alcoholic finish.

Poured from a can (no date I could find) into a highball glass

L: pours a deep, dark brown with not much significant viscosity. Thick tan head, sticking around for several minutes

S: great rich aroma - roast coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, leather. Full aroma but find it surprisingly light, no abv heat

T: follows the nose well, tons of flavor on a lighter body. Roast coffee leads, dark/bitter chocolate (85%+ kind of thing), raisins. Quite deep, impressive sans-adjuncts. Medium/long finish, sustained flavor from the swallow. Slightly warming but not by much

F: medium/medium- body, light+ carbonation, smooth, thin for a dark beer as I’m used to thick(er) stouts

O: awesome Baltic porter, malt flavor is rich and fantastic in a beer that’s overall fairly light and drinkable
