Our ever changing anniversary ale is back again as a stout. This year we wanted to brew a beer that was first made little over 3 years ago as a collab with Modern times called Dragons mask. Its a big imperial stout with cocoa nibs, cinnamon, vanilla, and sea salt. All made to remind you of one of the best street snacks.

There is an odd tartness here that isn't working for me. I'm comfortable saying it is not infection, the body is thick and lustrous and the carbonation normal. The predominant flavor I'm finding is dark chocolate, and it is wonderful. Unfortunately it does clash with that tart, almost vinous dark fruit note. Vanilla and salt are noticeable towards the finish, can't say I found any cinnamon. Overall this is a miss for me.

Look: Just what you'd expect for an Imperial Stout, like light weight burnt motor oil. Pours to a thin head with a slowly diminishing lace on the glass. Black with zero transparency.
Smell: Can smell the cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon.
Taste: Surprisingly, somewhat on the tart side. I'm not a fan of that.
Feel: Creamy 11% AVB feels good LOL
Overall: The tartness convinces me to pass this one up in the future.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear thick viscous jet black in color width moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + dark chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense fizzy foamy dark tan head that quickly reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film covering a little more than 30% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of brownie-like chocolate + vanilla over the top of moderate aromas of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a slightly heavier than moderate amount of lactose + caramel sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of brininess/sea salt + cinnamon. Very light aromas of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a slightly heavier than moderate amount of lactose + caramel sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of brininess/sea salt + cinnamon. Then there are moderate to strong flavors of cocoa + brownie-like chocolate + vanilla. Finally there is a very light flavor of earthy hops. Light amounts of roasty bitterness which fades away quickly leaving big sweet chocolate + vanilla flavors lingering.
M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Relatively smooth with a hint of alcohol warming in the finish.
O: Drinks easily considering the strength and the alcohol is well hidden with a pleasant full mouthfeel. Enjoyable though rich and decadent resulting in this one being a nice substitute for dessert tonight. Nice complexity of flavors that work well together (chocolate, vanilla, sea salt, and cinnamon).
