A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising semi-quickly along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + dark chestnut brown + ruby red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy dark tan head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering approximately 95% of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of sweet milk chocolate over the top of moderate aromas of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate to heavy amounts of lactose sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of coconut + pecans and hints of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate to heavy amounts of lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of sweet milk chocolate and light to moderate flavors of pecans + coconut. Finally there is a hint of earthy hops. Light amounts of roasty bitterness which are quickly overwhelmed by the lingering much stronger sweet milk chocolate flavors.
M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth, almost creamy initially with a hint of slickness in the finish.
O: Drinks much more easily than one would expect considering the strength + sweetness and a very nice full mouthfeel. Enjoyable with tons of sweet milk chocolate and much more subtle coconut + pecan. Very much a dessert beer for me but a very enjoyable one.
