Picked up a single from the Blue Door Bottleshop 2-17-22 for $5.25. Canned 2-7-22; consumed 5-22-22.
Beer poured a dark reddish brown with a nice tan head.
Nose is light wheat bread with a hint of dark fruits.
Taste is a a huge wheat bread base that lends a touch of plum jam. Finishes a touch sweet, almost balanced. Am not picking up phenols i would expect from the style.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy smooth.
Overall a nice job of brewing this beast, fun to try!

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a dark mahoagany brown with little light transmission in the glass, and a two finger, somewhat fizzy, light chocolate brown head with good retention once the fizz dies down, and solid lacing. Aroma of bready and biscuit malt, dry caramel, dates and dried plums. Flavor follows, with dry caramel and biscuit malt, dates, raisins, some plum; a burst of mixed bright fruit esters in the finish with residual dark fruit and caramel lingering. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I think they hit the mark on this one. All the basics of a doppelbock; heavy malt and dark fruit are here, but everything is amped up a bit in imperial mode. The taste is just what I'd want from an oversized bock, but the burst of fruit esters in the finish really appealed to me. Interesting, offbeat take on the doppelbock style.

Pours a dark burgundy-brown with a light fog to the transparency. It's dark enough, it's difficult to get a read on the transparency. Head is two fingers of caramel-colored foam. Aroma is toasty, caramely, bready, earthy malts with heavy fig, toffee, raisins, and molasses underneath. Alcohol adorns the edges, emphasizing the heat. Flavor profile is caramel, bready, toasty, and earthy malts with a hearty fig, raisin, molasses component. Grassy and resiny hops add a little further depth. Alcohol is discernable through the mix, which is not favorable. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a very still effervescence. This flat texture aligns with the high alcohol, suggesting alcohol flattened and crushed out any former effervescent play. Overall, big and bold, but alcohol present in the aroma and taste. The latter is a little disappointing - like hitting the top band on a triple putt - a disappointing Triple Bogey.

Look: It pours very dark brown with a brown head. Head retention is very good.
Smell: It has strong malty aromas with some caramel. There are some dark fruits present with low chocolate notes in the background.
Taste: It has strong maltiness and dark fruit. The dark fruit and plum like with a bit of prunes. The malt has some caramel. There is also a bit of dark cherry.
Feel: It has a medium full body with alcohol warming.
Overall, a bit surprised and the light nature of the alcohol warming. Good complex flavors overall.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, a few bubbles. Aroma is dark roasty malts, sweet, raisins, chocolate. A bit of booziness comes forth in the taste, sweet, chocolate, prunes, brown sugar. Finishes dry.
