Picked up a single from the Blue Door Bottleshop in Hendersonville 8-4-22 for $6.00. Canned 5-12-22; consumed 12-7-22.

Neer poured a reddish brown with a nice off-white head.

Nose has notes of dark fruits and citrus.

Taste is a big malt base that gives off a touch of cherry and plums and i am also getting orange and grapefruit. Overall kind of tangy. Finishes with a nice touch of piney bitterness; 7/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth.

Overall a really nice American Barleywine, glad i tried!

Up front is rich chocolate and toffee, silky sweet. The finish is earthy, piney hops and a really nice cherry note, both tart and sweet. At this point the chocolate and toffee are both all but gone. There is quite a transformation from start to finish here, I'm liking this one a lot! Thanks again Tom!

Haven't had a new Barleywine in a while. This one did the job!!!! Poured from a 16 oz. can, a medium brown color with plenty of reddish highlights coming through when held to a light. The light tan head was small and faded fast to just a covering of the glass and then a ring, but that is typical for strong beers. Aroma was strong, caramel malt, toffee, piney and floral hops and, oddly, a bit of chocolate like a stout!!! I did not pick up the chocolate in the taste but the flavor was a robust mixture of slightly sweet malt, toffee and good piney and floral bitterness. Mouthfeel was slightly sweet with robust bitterness. It was also somewhat harsh and, for some people a bit of aging would be in order. I feel that barleywines lose too much with aging and unless they were extra harsh and boozy, I'd rather have them fresh. I had this one with short ribs and noodles and finished it as a slow sipper. Very nice!!!

A collaboration with Divine Barrel

Pours a very nice dark amber color with a nice head and lacing
Aroma has generous hop and malt hints
The taste follows the nose with a pleasant hop and bittersweet malt flavor
A medium bodied very well carbonated beer
A good well balanced Barleywine
