On tap (5oz):
(Granted, this isn’t your typical light lager (followed the style chosen for the other variants of this beer); rating more as a fruited pepper lager(!?) than an AALL)
Mostly clear straw color with a decent collar of white. Fruit comes through in the aroma with a tart edge - watermelon leading - with the spice/pepper accenting. I think it would be more than a little funky if you weren’t aware of the ingredients.
Taste opens with watermelon, which gets watered down as the American lager beer flavors join after a slight hesitation. The pepper (both forms) hide until I finish a sip, then bring a tingle that grows to a light bite.
The bite in the feel initially makes this beer more enjoyable for me. But before the end of my small pour, the spice build up is slightly distracting. The watermelon seemed more watered down at first but ends up being quite tasty. Could see this one being polarizing.
