Sample in a 12oz bottle with bottled date.

Poured a golden yellow with a two inch head that faded after time to a thin covering that provided great lacing.

Aromas of yeast and light malt. Crisp, and clean floral hops.

Tasted of light malt, German hops and a biscut, yeast flavor. Very dry, crisp, and clean.

Great, textbook pilsner. This is the beer to judge other pilsners by IMO.

Pours a nice golden with a fluffy head that dissaptes pretty quickly,if it stayed a little longer would have gotten real high marks because I like the color.Aromas of sweet malt and a little iron makes it almost right on for the style, taste is mildly sweet and even a little earthy with a tough of nuttiness.Very sturdy mouthfeel not wimpy at all, smooth and rich for a pilsner very well done in my opinion.

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle, with the bottled on date stamped on the side.

Appearance: A crystal clear golden beer with a thin white foam lace. Settles to a ring around the glass.

Smell: Aromatic with floral, soft grain and light citrus.

Taste: Medium bodied and smooth. A rather rich & malty pils with an even, full sweetness. Bready/biscuit grain flavours pull thru, followed by a light hop bitterness, some dry crispness, floral/herbal flavours and a zesty lemon twang. Nice balance of malt and hops. More grain/biscuit flavours come to play and linger into the dry/tannin (hop and malt) aftertaste.

Notes: A very traditional, and hefty in comparison to others, pilsner lager beer. Love the balance of rich malt flavour and Saaz hops.

03/07/2002 Notes:

MALTY: is how I'd describe this unique Pils. Aroma is that of freshly milled grain (my fav) and with deep biscuit/toasted notes, floral-like hop. Flavour matches with a very malty body (sweet, but not super sweet) and a herbal hop bitterness to balance that also has a smoothed in lemony bite. Carbonation is tight and lifts the palate. Appearance is quite hazy though, and the head settles to a ring lace, but it's the only thing that I knock this brew for. A highly tasty and drinkable beer.

Thanks to Arctic Liquors for the sample.

12 oz bottle, bottled on 11/16/04. Pours a very slightly hazy yellow with a small, fizzy white head that quickly goes down to a thin ring.

The aroma is metallic and skunky - some hops and spices try to peek through.

The flavor is rather bland - a little sweet malt with some spicy hops that are a bit metallic. It has a pretty crisp finish. It's inoffensive and easy to drink. The mouthfeel is thin to medium with decent carbonation.

Pilsners are not my favorite style. This is an OK pils, but nothing exciting in my book. The more I drank of it, the more I warmed up to it.

Golden straw color, whitish head of 1/4 inch. Nice biscuity aromas with some sense of hop acridness. Very nice but subdued flavor, a sense of shortbread attenuated by a refreshing hoppiness thats a great balance. Malts are well done in this brew. Though I'm not a huge fan of Pilsners, this one is very nice and refreshing, something I'd look for in the warm season.

Hazy golden with a small white head made of very small bubbles which reduces but does not disappear. Some slight foam lacing left on the pilsner flute and the lager is consumed.

The aroma is sweet but rich, very strong notes of thick honey. Not the typical bouquet for a pills but appetizing none the less.

The flavor follows through with the honey smells, a thick malty sweetness that is not at all sugary. Also some granny almost bread-like flavors. Finishes with a dry hop profile that is marred by a metallic bite.

The beer was carbonated well but still seemed a bit flat. Certainly not a big round felling in the mouth. A bit thin and sharp and the metallic bit mentioned above compromises the drinkability.

Note: 12 oz bottle has a clearly displayed “bottled on” date. Mine reads 2/23/05, nearly a year prior to consumption. This is a bit too old for a pilsner and freshness may have been an issue.

Smell: Floral/malty aroma that reallt woke up the nose

Taste: Slight bitterness with a slight sweet/soapy/grainy taste. Some bread like notes, crisp and dry with slight alcohol flavors on the finish

Pours a clear straw color into a fluted pilsner glass with a very delicate head. There's just a trace of an aroma of malt and spicy hops. The malt is accented at first, then a little spicy/fruity tasting hop and juicy malt, followed by lightly bitter finish that's just shy of sweet. The mouthfeel is a bit slick and the body just about right for the style. Lacing is left down the glass enhancing the appearance. This is a decent American craft-brewed pilsner, but it's no Victory Prima Pils.

Nice and crisp looking from the beginning. Malt aromas hit you first; then a hoppy character emerges as the beer sits for a few minutes. Pleanty of flavor here; smooth maltiness with some bitterness to balance it out. An oustanding beer for the summer months.

The quintessential pilsner color, a translucent gold with a purposeful head that is bright white and the texture frothy, the lace slowly evolves into fine sheets to cover the glass. The stereotypical pilsner nose which is malt dominated and refreshingly crisp and clean, Archetypal pilsner start with a sweet malt backing and the top light. Finish carbonation pertinent to the style with the hops apropos for a pilsner and the aftertaste standard, drinkable and acceptable in its own right.

Crystal clear golden hue, covered by a initially thick porcelain white head that settles into a tight lace leaving layer. Soft, slightly sweet bready malt aroma with a refined spicy, slight grassy Saaz hop nose. Clean, cracker - like pilsner malt sweetness dominates the flavor profile, and is partially offset by mild hop bitterness. Saaz hop flavor complements the smooth malt profile, lending an overall florally sweet impression to this pilsner. Well rounded body and mouthfeel help faciltate excellent drinkability. Finishes lightly sweet and bready, but otherwise clean. A well crafted pilsner, but perhaps a bit conservative on hop bitterness. Highly drinkable nevertheless.

Appearance is light golden with average white head diminishing fairly quickly. The flavor is a good mix of hops and malt and is light bodied. This brew has a good finish that feels very clean.

Tabernash Pilsner. Pours your standard yellow pilsner color. Small white head that has some staying power before it subsides into a lace on the edge of the glass. Beer is just a little cloudy, but it could be from chill haze. Nose is malty with some skunk. First taste is sheer maltiness. Lots of malty with grainy sweetness. Light floral hoppiness with a very very mild bitterness. Finish is crisp and clean. There is just a tiny bit of skunk, but overall this is an impressive pilsner.

Deepish gold in color with a surprisingly resiliant, moderately sized head. Head is unusually (for the style) creamy in texture and leaves a decent lace down the glass. Aroma is refreshing, light grain undergirded by a biscuity sweetness and a nice though light citric hop aroma. Taste starts of slightly sweet, develops a biscuity character mid-palate, and ends with a herbal hop note which struck me as a bit off at first, but grew on me as I continued down the glass. Lightish in body with a mildly dry finish. Quite drinkable!

All around, a well crafted beer. Pours golden and clear with a very thin, lacy head. Nice sweet maltiness in the middle and just the right amount of hop bitterness to follow. Nothing overly dominant in any of the flavor nuances. Smooth, medium-bodied, crisp and somewhat dry on the finish. Balanced so well that it's almost unassuming.

Good stuff. Plenty of surprise with in this pils. This German-style pils has a bit more Saaz character than most Northern German-style pilsners. There is a heavier than normal malt flavor detected in the finish.

Appearance: Pale, straw-colored. White-ish head sustained nicely and left Brussels lace. Kudos
Smell: Light hop aroma.
Taste: Light, soft-bodied pilsener with a nice and delicate texture. Dry hoppiness throughout, with just a subtle sweetness in the middle.
Mouthfeel: Slightly water-y, but I'm sensing this is intentional with this delicate brew: it's the kind of beer the brewer wants you to be able to drink in sufficient quantity after a hard and hot day in the fields (or on the lawn!).
Drinkability: This is a clean and light-ish pilsener beer, no mistake. I give the brewer high marks for going for such a thing, but I just wish there was a little more body to the brew. That said, I did enjoy this sample. I'd love to try it on tap.

Second in the beers-left-behind-by-previous-homeowner series.

Just a super-clear, gold beer with fast carbonation. Looks like a pilsener. Small, white, fast head. The smell is sweet, malty, but with quite strong floral hops too. Interesting. Malty, nutty, hoppy front. Wow... not what I was expecting. There's a full, fruity, malty middle. Finish is fresh and a little nutty. This is just great. A creamy, sweetish, hoppy pilsener.

All malt pilsners are always so nice to see.

Clear light golden in color with a large and frothy white head that lasts and laces!

Smells like seltzer water. Dominated by malt but still smells a little spicy from the hops.

Perfect carbonation. Tastes crisp, clean and refreshing. Not much flavor but it does have some! Nice bready malt flavor with modest hop use that does provide for some spicyness. Nice neutral flavor. Pretty well balanced and a good pilsner.

Nice golden color, white head that is rocky and firm. My sample is nice and clear. The aroma is malt oriented with a hint of spicy hops. The flavor starts with a sweet maltiness, maybe a tad cloying, and follows with a soft finish and a slight hop bite. I'd like a little more hop presence for the beer but its very flavorful and a good session drinking beer. The beer is nice and full in its mouthfeel. Good beer overall.
