Treated as an imperial "rye beer," this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a mostly dark red color with some hues of dark orange along the sides of the glass. Finger's worth of white foamy head slid off at a moderate pace. Light semi-stringy lace ran here and there, somewhat messy.
The aroma had a nice arrangement of the sweet caramel/toffee malts to floral and spicy rye notes and ended with a touch of earthiness.
The flavor leaned sweet at first and then opened up on into the rye notes pretty nice. Aftertaste was full of the rye spiciness and sweetness and blending the malts cleanly in the mix.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good. Rye harshness wasn't overbearing, seemed on par. ABV felt as projected by the brewer. Light rye spicy to balanced caramel malty finish.
Overall, a really nice imperial rye beer, well worthy of having again and well worthy as a nice transition beer (Summer to Autumn).

Amazing look is mahogany with reddish amber hints. big foamy tan head fades to thin top and lacing down the entire glass. Smells like brown sugar, fresh dark rye bread. Taste follows with caramel, biscuit, then light spice with hint of hop... minimal bite.

A: Pours a deep red color with 2 fingers of head that slowly fades down to a nice cap that leaves good lacing
S: Lots of caramel and spicy rye malt up front along with some earthy hops and a light fruitiness
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the spicy rye and some earthy hops and goes into some lightly sweet caramel maltiness and fruity undertones. Finishes with lingering spicy notes and some sweetness
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. On the smooth side
O: A solid rye beer that has a nice hoppy red base that is incredibly easy to drink for being 8%. Worth checking out if you're a fan of reds or rye beers

Mahogany and tobacco juice color to the body; thick, sculpted, dense head. Mildly spicy nose with some warm bread qualities. Spicy, pine and rye taste; caramel and mild alcohol presence; bread crust. Heavy body; some residual sugar presence.
A very respectable rye beer that doesn't bring out any "wow" factor (although though it's pretty damn nice to look at). Taste if solid and well-balanced. A fine effort...

Poured a copper body w/ two-finger head that died slow and left a massive head. Citric, spicy, soapy hop aroma with a bit of malt. Smooth, light malty body with minor notes of caramel/toffee coming in that takes an edge off of spicy, dry, bitter, citric, dirty hops that somehow even give off a touch of boozy heat on the finish.
