Beautiful lava lamp look when the yeast diffuses down through the hazy straw body and fluffy white head.

Sour/tart edge and creamy malt nose with light whiffs of characteristic banana/clove esters. Also a hint of spice.

Medium bodied mouth with ample carbonation takes front stage over flavor at first sip. Slowly, that creamy wheat character comes through the spicy carbonation. Soft malt and hop with pleasant yeasty flourishes.

This is one of the coolest Left Hand Brewery's bottle labels.

Seriously cloudy look, banana yellow. Thick finger of head, pure white. Lots of carbonation. Bright and inviting. A swath of lace.

A spicy Belgian ale aroma. Pungent coriander and orange peel. Really spicy, fruity and heavy. Some sweet lemon. Both sweet & spicy in one.

The taste is a nice spicy Belgian ale flavor, with notes of orange, lemon and banana. A little fruity, a little pungent. Spicy and a tad lemony sour.

It's fizzy like uncorked champagne. Overall, it's quite fizzy and bursting with flavor. Too intense for repeats.

This has an excellent brass body that has the downside of a lot of sediment. The tan head and lace were great. It has a light wheat like aroma. It has nice flavor to it. There are esters of banana and clove. Some good hops. I tried to give this beer a fair shake over the sediment but both times that I tried it in the bottle there were tons of sediment so that going to be the thing that hurts it when I rate the appearance and the mouthfeel. Maybe Missouri just got a bad batch. Everything else was good.

Poured a cloudy orange-yellow into a pint glass, with a foamy white head and bit of sediment floating around. Aroma was very fruity, notes of bananas, apples, and wheat.

Wow, this beer is better than I expected. Ther eis a big fruity flavor up front, mainly bananas, but some apples and oranges as well. It is slightly spiced with Hefeweizen spices (cloves mainly) but not overwhelming. Very appropriately done. There's no sourness sometimes associated with American wheat ales. To be honest this is a great summer drinker, and one of the better American wheats I've had this season. I know it's almost fall, so find this one while you still can.

So I honestly found this when doing some seasonal cleaning and realized I had never gotten the chance to try it. Well for me that was all the reason I needed to dig right in. It poured a very nice and hazy bright golden amber, almost a yellow, with a decent amount of suspension and a good bit of foamy white top to it. The aroma on it was somewhat light, full of grain and almost a light lemon scent to it, a very bright kind of look I have to say. The flavor was remarkable to be honest. Sometimes these wheat beers fall a bit flat to me, this one was the exception. I thought this was remarkably well rounded and really had a tremendously full balanced flavor to it. The wheat flavor was strong with a great yeast presence to it and a very nice hop back. A light frothy mouth feel only served to push the flavors forward and really push on what this was all about. Overall I thought this was very good. A very fun wheat beer that stayed away from some of the coying nuances that have popped up in some others lately. Nicely hopped but nothing extreme this was a fine example of the style and something I look forward to trying again next year. Definitly have to recommend this one.

Traded my friend for a bottle of this.

A: Pours a straw-colored body, slightly cloudy, with a small white head with poor retention and minimal lacing along the sides of the glass.

S: Slight hint of banana esters with some olive undertones.

T: A smooth, slightly olive taste with an olive aftertaste. Not sure how this taste developed, but I am not sure if the olive taste was meant to be there.

M: A little on the thin side with a little too much carbonation, even for a wheat beer.

D: Ok drinkability overall, but nothing to impressive. The taste was interesting and the mouthfeel was a bit off. I would give it a go again, but the taste was most definitely average, at best I believe.

Pours a hazy, golden/yellow in color. One inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of coriander, sweet malt, banana, and slight hops. Fits the style of an American Pale Wheat Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with a high carbonation level - also slightly watery. Tastes of coriander, yeast, sweet malt, banana, and slight wheat in the finish. Overall, a decent beer that's too heavy on fruit flavors and lacking in wheat and malt flavor.

12 oz. bottle dated 01.31.07

Poured a cloudy straw color, I did a swirl at the end of the pour, thick white head that had staying power and left good lacing.

Smell is banana-wheat bread and yeast, I'm not a fan of sniffing wheat beers.

Taste is ok, again I'm not really big on this style, I just wanted to sample all of the Left Hand varieties they had at the beer store.

Smooth, not offending or harsh, pastey finish.

I'm not a fan of the style, so for me drinkability is middle of the road.

Poured from 12oz brown bottle into a clear short pilsner glass. Brewed on date present.

A: Hazy banana gold with lots of particulate matter and 2 finger nearly white head. Not much lace down the glass however.

S: An initial tangy breadiness is followed by delicious aromas of banana and pear and a healthy dose of cloves and coriander. A light but zesty lemon aroma is there as well.

T: The taste is a nice reflection of the aromas, but on a smaller scale. Yeasty and bready with tangy wheat elements accented with a heavy fruitiness of banana and pear flavors with cloves and a lemony finish.

M: Heavy to the point of being almost syrupy but very smooth. Aftertaste is short and fruity.

D: A unique hefeweizen with a heavy fruit quotient but plenty of malt to give a multidimensional aroma and flavor that is very enjoyable.

A- poured a pale yellow with offwhite head, only slightly foggy the head lasted reasonably well
S- wheat and malt make up the majority of the smell, balanced, has a strong body smell.
T- mildly sweet with a medium body wheat flavor that rolls over the tongue well. there is a clean finish providing a very solid taste
M- Crisp carbonation flows well on the tongue
D- a smooth wheatieness that isnt too overbearing or too lacking provides a beer that could be easily downed multiple times in a night

A: Pours a hazy, cloudy, golden straw color. Huge three finger or more head. No lacing to speak of.
S: Smells great. All kinds of bready wheat and lemons. A hint of spices mixed in as well.
T: Not nearly as exciting as the smell. I get the lemons and wheat and a few of the spices. However, I find it overcome by some bitterness. In general, I like the way these play off each other, but not in a "summer beer".
M: Highly cabronated. Has a little bite, but all and all is crisp and smooth.
D: It is refreshing, but the bitterness, while not huge, does more to hinder this beer than help it. It's not overpowering, but hides the true flavor of the beer. That being said, you could have a few and do worse.

I'm an open minded consumer who's willing to try just about anything. Vietnamese tripe soup with a few blood cubes for good measure? Sure, I gave it a try. Beef testicles, goose liver pate, baked opossum, haggis? Been there done that too, but this crap I just couldn't drink. I poured it right down the sink and good riddance.

I've tried hundreds of beers and I'm no expert, but I really wish brewers would provide an accurate description and warning of the taste found in this beer. It's the common Belgian ale or French saison taste that I'm referring to. I don't really know what creates this taste, but it's very distinct and I'm sure some people like it. Unfortunately, I find it undrinkable. Last week at a bar I ordered a White Rascal from Avery Brewing company and it tasted identical to this crap. I would rather drink fermented human saliva than this stuff.

Consistently soft white head one-inch head settles nicely on an attractive orange-brown body--definitely unfilteredas apparent when swishing the bottle's sediment...bright, soft wheat scents with a bit of fruit as well... clean, almost elusive in mouth and throat--not like a hefe... slighty effervescent and medium-bodied...smooth wheats abound and dominate...light malt and little hop to the glass...tickles the tongue in a playful manner... as hefes go, not outstanding but not flawed in any majorly detectable way either... a solid player in a Left Hand sampler....

A- Golden and somewhat hazy, leaving it semitransparent. Head is 1" of white head after pour. Not much lacing at all but a light film remains on the top surface of the beer.

S- Very grainy, grassy, and wheaty. There are also some lively aromas of oranges, lemons and honey.

T- Nice husky, grainy taste mixed with the citrusy fruits and honey. Lemony zing midstream that works well with the high carbonation.

M- Medium to thin and carbonaton is high.

D- Very drinkable. I could down a few of these easily in a day.

Overall- I wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I did. Well rounded and very refreshing. Style points are definitely given to LH for this brew.

A- Pours a hazy light golden amber color with a thin white head. Head is gone pretty quick leaving behind only a few bubbles. Very little to no lacing.

S- Wheat, bananas, clove, bubble gum and a touch of spices. A bit of yeast here too.

T- Follows the nose pretty well. Bubble gum and banana are leading the way here. Just a bit of yeast and spice here.

M- Fairly light in body and good amount of carbonation.

O- Pretty solid brew.

Bottled on 10/03/2007. Served in my MH Circus Boy wiezen glass (love the glass, not a fan of the brew). Poured a hazy, tawny gold color; some residual effervescence, but difficult to detect through the haze. Fluffy, cloud-like head dominated the glass and eventually settled into a consistent quarter-inch layer of foam. Sticky webs of lacing clung to the glass during the session. Scent of clove, yeast and bubblegum. Taste similar to nose, but much more subdued and blended; addition of a mild citrus astringency at the finish. Mouthfeel has a little carbonation, which is slightly enhanced by the astringency. Good drinkability. Nice and clean and fairly sessionable, but there better representations of the style available.

S: Coriander, pepper, bread, and cream corn.

T: Cream corn with a bit of citrus.

M: Smooth not much carbination, not as crisp as I would like.

D: There are much more quaffables available in this style but this one is not bad.

Served on tap at the Bier Markt in Cleveland this past Saturday Night. Review from notes. Poured into a clean, clear pint glass.

A Murky, hazy translucent light yellow. Appropriate to the style but nothing remarkable.

S Sweet wheat smell, appropriate to the style and inviting.

T Good light wheat with some citrus, spices, coriander and cinnamon. Nice taste.

M Thin. light mouthfeel.

D Very very drinkable. I could have several of these in an evening. Tonight I only had the one though.

Notes: Nice to have this on tap this past Saturday.
