I really wanted to like this beer more than I do. It doesn't have much on the nose, the flavor is kind if dull, but there is nothing wrong with it. It's ok but nothing great. I would love an imperial over the top version of this

Picked up a single on 9-5-24 from the Energy Mart cooler on Long Shoals/I-26 as part of a mixed six pack for $12.99. Best by 7-26-24; consumed 11-11-24. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured dark brown with a nice off white head with the original pour.

Nose is nice as i am getting a blend or maple syrup and roasted malts.

Taste was ARTIFICIAL maple syrup flavor forward over a roasted malt base. Finish came across as bittersweet.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and kind of smooth and a tad watery feeling.

Overall, nice concept if real maple was used but suspect artificial flavor and age is getting the better of this.

From the bottom of the can: "333:12:43 5913 BEST BY 07/26/2024"
This was being sold at just over a month past the best before date, and it was stored on a regular shelf.

Appearance: It has a black body with a short fizzy tan head. The carbonation is making the surface of the foam roil until it drops out to a thin film on the surface of the beer. No lacing and not much retention.

Aroma: There is a light roasted grain aroma with a very light touch of dark chocolate which actually comes through first on the nose, but it drops off just before the roasted grain aroma comes through. A light bit of vanilla aroma comes through. The aroma is similar to many vanilla porters that are available on the market.

Taste: Maple and vanilla hit the tongue first and then there is this big roasted grain flavor with lots of char and a touch of dark chocolate flavor. The flavors drop off a bit and mellow out towards the middle of the mouth. It has a lingering burnt wood flavor with a touch of mint and some light pine which is nice and gives the beer a lot of character.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium body that thins out a bit towards the back of the palate. There is a light bitterness to the beer. It feels alright on the tongue.

Overall: The text on the can states that this is a "STOUT WITH NATURAL FLAVORS & CARAMEL COLOR" and below that "Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted caramel barley, rolled oats, lactose, hops, french toast flavor, yeast." The beer's name is "French Toast MILK STOUT" and it doesn't really taste like french toast. It does have a pleasant burnt flavor with notes of mint and pine that are accented by light notes of dark chocolate and vanilla which are enjoyable. The beer overall tastes good and it would be a nice beer to drink while relaxing after skiing or snowboarding, but it doesn't really evoke any french toast character. This probably wouldn't be a regular purchase but I could see myself buying it if I were going on a ski trip or something similar because the flavors have a very Christmas-like feel.

This is just not for me. Looks good, pours good but I prefer a bit more sweetness instead of burnt whatever and slight bitterness. I suspect some coffee in there because it sends me to the moon and I can't sleep. Its a NO for me dawg!

Don't worry, this beer is not as sweet as you'd expect. It's still a great dessert beer, but it won't drown you in sugar. You actually can taste the vanilla and maple syrup notes here. It's 6%, so not a super heavy imperial pastry stout either. I liked this one more than I thought I would.

Aroma is big roasted malts/coffee and a hint of caramel/syrup. The flavor is fruit, mild caramel/syrup and a huge roasted malt/coffee/acidic finish.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left thin lacing on the glass. It smelled of cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate and toffee. Sweet french toast-like taste with cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate and toffee.
