The taste of Bavaria brings about a soft grainy-sweet malt profile that's of honey and fresh baking bread. A whimsy of floral hops tease the nose while its herbal spiciness offsets the sweetness superbly. Its clean finish allows for dangerous drinkability.
Surprising with its modest haze, the lager pours with a standard goldenrod hue. Capped by a creamy ivory cap, the beer's head character is tight, dense and firmly withstanding. Speckled lace layers on the glass in the beer's wake.
The beer's nose is equal parts grain, honey and bread but with background notes of savory bread crust, floral honeysuckle, tea-like herbs and just enough of an earthy spice to round out the delicate aromas.
Its bready sweetness is layered with light honey, toasted grain and crusted bread and does so without pushing into caramel territory. Its elegant hop flavors are strong but subtle- balanced only by enough hops to pull the ale from cloying. Spicy in its short bitterness, the beer turns lightly floral, herbal and tobacco-like in finish. Even notes of marmalade and soap emerge from time to time, for better or worse.
Yet, in lager-like fashion, the beer is soft, smooth, and highly drinkable. Its gentle carbonation gives the malt sweetness a lift until the semi-dry finish, mild alcohol and spicy bitterness closes the beer cleanly and refreshingly.
Much like Oktoberfest biers, but with added strength- these lagers are meant to flush down the brats and schnitzl. But that can lead to an early night at over 7% abv. Its authentic German-esque character and balance doesn't push too hard into newer micro-brewed trends. It simply represents the Helles Bock style well!

Served in a snifter at SmallBar - Division.
It's summer, the rain just started, and this bachelor party is rolling: Time for a maibock, right? This stuff pours a clear sunrise amber topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises mild biscuit, grass, light flowers, and a touch of honey. The taste brings in more of the same, with the grass taking deeper root and the flowers blooming a bit earlier. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, a generally solid maibock, nothing all that special or memorable, but a nice enough drink.
