This is a dark lager, the most popular term used to order the dark beer on tap at your local German brauhaus. It has a distinctive malty flavor and low bitterness. This was Christine’s favorite type of beer traveling Germany, she was regularly seen enjoying its sweet malty goodness.

Sidenote: this beer is a Munich Dunkel Lager (or just Dunkel Lager) and not a Dunkelweizen. If you are expecting a dark hefe then you will be in for a sad surprise.
Poured a light brown body that still retained some clarity and had little head but left a lace ring. The aroma is mostly a dry, roasted malt aroma and graininess that comes with lagers with possible bitter chocolate (something sweet is in there). The beer is smooth, medium-bodied, there is a breadiness that makes it a little fuller and something akin to caramel sweetness that balances with a dry malt base and finishes crisp with light bitterness. Not a bad beer but I prefer the sweeter versions of this style and this one can be described as more dry/less sweet. If that's your thing then you'll love this beer.
