Clear gold with nice active carbonation. Big piney and citrusy hop aroma and flavor; solidly West Coast. Nice balance with solid bitterness. Medium bodied.

Doggy Paddle has a thick, off-white head and a translucent, orange appearance, with moderate lacing. The aroma is of pungent, resinous hop oils and white bread. The flavor is of white bread crust, piney hop oils, and citrus. Doggy Paddle has a medium body and a dry finish.

Appearance: Drafted into a frosty pint glass. Dark gold and clear, which seems off for this style. An inch of thick airy foam that was oddly tan in color and very persistent with stage 5 clingyness.
Aroma: Tropical fruit. Apricot. Grapefruit.
Taste: Nothing too prominent, which was surprising given the aromatic nose. Mild hoppy bitterness. Citrus rind. Some sweetness mostly from malt but also tropical fruit.
Feel: Very weak carbonation. Juicy.
Overall: It is unfortunately obvious that is isn't their specialty. The underwhelming lack of flavor was accentuated by not being carbonated properly. I guess it lived up to its name of being doggy paddle rather than freestyle. If I were them, I wouldn't give up on it though. Some fine-tuning in the next batch could work wonders.

From the can, it pours a hazy darker amber color with a nice white head that eventually diminishes to a thin layer. The nose gets a dose of citrus, with pineapple predominating. As befits a West Coast IPA, it has a bitterness when you drink it, along with a nice citrus bite.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at The brewery as part of a six sample flight. It poured a hazy golden with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had citrus peel and pine notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp malt base and bitter fruit and pine resin presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

A fairly decent West-Coast style IPA. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass. Orange color with a big white head with average retention and some lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel malt, citrus hops (grapefruit and orange) and fairly good bitterness. Taste is more of the same - moderately strong bitterness, citrus and some balancing sweet malt. Mouthfeel is somewhat smooth, good bitterness and a little more boozy than a "session" IPA. Not bad from a brewery that specializes in German style beers!!!!!

Poured a cloudy yellowish-gold body with two finger head that died quick and left little bits of lace. Basic aroma that contains citric hops and hints of sweet malts. A lighter-bodied hop-centric IPA as it passes easy with minimal sweetness to keep a citric, slightly grapefruit hopped beer. A simple but enjoyable IPA that is worth having if you want a "session IPA" that still has a boozy kick.
