This is an odd one. Yes, a German-style pilsner that looks phenomenal (deep gold with nice yellow head billowing up when poured from the 16 oz can). And even knowing it was brewed with coffee, the nose didn't quite match with the taste. Rich mouthfeel, but couldn't quite understand the flavor profile. It was pretty good, but after awhile the fact that what you saw didn't quite match what you tasted got in the way of enjoying it fully. The coffee, to me, won out. This was part of a gift 4-pack from my son after a visit to VA Beach, so I'm eagerly anticipating the other three. Definitely not something I'd buy, but very happy for the chance to try it.

Poured a clear gold with no head from the tap into a pint glass. Aroma is predominantly lightly roasted coffee beans. I can't describe the taste any better than a 50/50 combination of light beer and light coffee. The medium body and carbonation are perfect. Needless to say, if you like simple pilsners and coffee, this beer is for you.

From the pint can, it pours a clear amber color with a very nice white head that slowly reduces and leaves some lacing. Coffee is strongly evident in the nose. Coffee is strongly evident in the first sip you get, bitter coffee, followed by more coffee flavor and remaining on your tongue after. Not my taste, but it is exactly what they say.

A German Pilsner with coffee flavor.......Why? It takes from the qualities that define the style. While not a mashup abomination like the "Milkshake IPA", this beer would still be better without the coffee gimmick. Poured from a16 oz. can into a flute glass this beer features a beautiful dark gold color with lots of carbonation and a medium sized foamy white head. Head retention is good and there are some foamy bands of lacing on the glass. A good looking beer!!!! Aroma and taste feature some light malt and grassy hops. There is just enough coffee flavor here for you to ask "what is that doing here?" It is like someone used the glass to drink coffee without washing it out before pouring beer into it. Mouthfeel is light and crisp like you would expect in a lager. The abv on this beer is now 7.2% abv so there is a little alcohol presence in an otherwise smooth mouthfeel. Not a bad beer but no need for the coffee.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pilsner glass. Had a golden yellow color and a mostly clear consistency. There was an inch of fluffy, long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: An interesting, but not superb, aroma of coffee, some malt, citrus fruit, and hops.

T: Tasted of a hint of hops (not a big component), a tinge of citrus fruit (lemon, in particular), a decent shot of malt (present throughout), and some coffee as well. This is an interesting, if not wholly successful, flavor. The coffee doesn't always seem to come through, but when it's present is quite good. It's a light effervescent flavor.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp, dry finish. Light-bodied.

O: An uneven beer, but not without its strong qualities. Worth a look.

*Listed this beer as a pils b/c brewer stated used same malt build as their pilsner offering.
Poured a body that straddles gold and orange with one-finger head that stuck around for a while. The Sumatra coffee beans added to the beer dominate both the aroma and taste. The coffee beans give off a slightly dry and sweet coffee taste and the beer is light-bodied and easy to drink. Not a bad beer and worth trying but it is a bit of a one note beer.
