This is the best known wheat beer from south Germany; its appearance is cloudy and yellow with an aroma of banana and clove. It is full of malt sweetness, a little hop bitterness, and containing just enough spice flavor to keep your lips smacking. If wheat beer is your preference, this is your beer.

Appearance:  Drafted into a frozen pint glass. An inch of very lofty off-white memory foam on top of a hazy orange beer.  The head took a long time to die down, and never really did so completely. Lots of lacing.
Aroma:  Weak. Estery phenols with some odd caramelized sugar (see below).
Taste:  Spicy clove banana bread with a surprising addition of buttery sugar cookie which is probably diacetyl and might explain some of the other negative reviews here.
Feel:  Strong carbonation and medium body.
Overall:  This one had some potential that was presumably lost in the fermentation process.

From the can, it pours a slightly hazy amber color with a modest, for a hefeweizen, off-white head that soon diminishes to a ring and leaves some lacing. The nose is light banana and bread. Taste follows nose, with a sharp bite at the beginning, unlike most hefeweizens I know, it is good and an interesting variation on the style.

A fairly average Hefe. Pours from a 12 oz can into an Aventinus Weizen glass. Features a slightly hazy light orange color with a small foamy white head. Head retention is average and there is minimal lacing on the glass. Primary flavors are wheat bitterness and citrus (lemon). Whats missing are the cloves and prominent yeastiness/bubblegum. Mouthfeel is rich, a bit more malty than many hefes with some good wheat bitterness. Not quite as light and crisp as some. On the whole, an enjoyable beer but not necessarily a great Hefeweizen.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color - too hazy to see if there is any visible carbonation. It poured with a massive two finger high frothy white head that gradually died down, leaving a short head covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of wheat are present in the nose along with hints of bananas.
T: The taste follows the smell but has a little stronger flavors of bananas.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This hefeweizen exhibits a lot more wheat in the smell and taste compared to other beers in the style.

German Shepheweizen Wasserhund Brewing Company 5.9% ABV.
I had this from a 12 ounce can poured into a tulip beer glass. I got this down in Virginia Beach, where it is brewed. It was cool to get the local stuff while in town. I had a great trip and enjoyed the sites.

Look: golden, hazey, white head with lacing.
Smell: grain, wheat, lemon, citrus.
Taste: sweet, sour, slight bittering on the tale end of the sip.
Feel: light and refreshing with substance.
Overall: I thought this would be a good choice because I love the banana taste that comes from a good hefe, but that was non-existent here. No bubblegum, banana, maybe a slight bit of clove and citrus. I wasn't really a huge fan of the shepheweizen, but it wasn't horrible. This might not have been the greatest introduction to Virginia beer. I have had three different kinds of beers from the area so far and they all seem bland. Let me know what's up Virginians!

All clove on the nose, too much bite and no balance on the palate. A very poor execution of their attempt at their style that you kind of hang your hat on. Poured from a can, dissapointing.
