Wasserhund Brewing Company and Tradition Brewing Company have come together to present Who’s Coming With Me. This Kellerbier was conditioned on oak for a whole month before we packaged it. The wood adds a slight character to the beer without being overwhelming. Brewed with German malts and noble hops to create a light but flavorful lager that can be enjoyed anywhere. So, what we want to know is, Who’s Coming With Me?

Where do I start? This is the second in a four pack of assorted Wasserhund Brewery 16 oz cans picked up at the Brewery and given to me to try. They all looked good, but the style (Kellerbier) and description of this one caught my eye (as did the colorful can). So I opened it. Poured surprisingly clear but deep (dark) gold in the glass with a nice head of foam that stayed briefly, then faded. Initially, all I caught was a hint of biscuity malt in the nose, but right at the first taste I knew this would be different. In my opinion, good beers do one thing very well: entertain the taste buds with complexity. This one did that wonderfully. At first, the German-style malty lager flavor popped in, followed by the subtlety bitter hops. But as it sat briefly and then on the finish, there was an excellent, unmistakable earthy woodiness (thanks, I assume to the oak barrel aging) that reminded me of a high quality whiskey. It was genuinely surprising and incredibly tasty. With every sip, that cascade of flavors came back. I kept going back for more until, sadly, the glass was empty. I immediately texted the person who gave me the can and we both regretted that it was a seasonal (even perhaps a one-off) offering. It would be worth the drive to find more. I don't heap praise like this on beers very often, but this one was unique. And very... very good.
