Had Red Durst poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped (likely) canned on "03/13/2025," into tulip pint.
Pours a bit red but mostly medium amber with clarity and 2-finger, very light-tan head, with excellent retention, pulling chunky rings of lace down the glass. Big aroma of zesty grapefruit and less of bitter herbals off pour, then aromas of sweet orange and a little hop spice, with sweet melon, mild floral and sweet peach aromas as warms. On tasting, begins smooth but crisp with big grapefruit, over mild caramel, which carries into and through a big herbal hop bite, into a multiply-citrusy but primarily grapefruit, bitter and surprisingly clean finish.
I doubt Hutton & Smith will be upset if I say that this drinks like one of those beloved, big, malty hop monsters that Sierra Nevada used to make, although the malt aromas and flavors are surprisingly contemporary and subtle.
