Robin Hood Brewing Co. (Home D Pizzeria) on Atherton Street is really more of a pizza place that serves Robin Hood Brewing Co. beers than anything else. In fact, if you look at your receipt it will say "Home D Pizzeria" on it. For the real thing you'll have to visit them in Bellafonte.

It's an OK looking place with an avocado and burgundy color theme that's augmented in places with an appropriately fitting blue, and it's got tile floors and black granite topped bars, and outdoor seating. At the main bar there are 24 taps although they list 35 total. There are 13 seats at the bar, with 6 high tops and more dining tables behind - but there's a whole other section, half or even more of the restaurant, where the dining area really is. I should also note, just in case, that the patio is dog friendly.

The main bar also offers 9 big screen TVs and normally I'd suggests that that really tells you something about the place except that - ta da! - it's State College/Penn State so those are almost required. And who doesn't enjoy a little football now and again anyway?

I found the bar service to be... I was going to say quite bad, but I'll go ahead and go further and say, pathetic... and the quality low as the bartenders who were more interested in washing pint glasses than serving me were doing such a bad job of it, and didn't even seem to really clean up the bar area after patrons left. They're college students though, so I understand.

Back to the beer, at least there's good news there. Both of the two beers that I had - they only serve full "pints" so I couldn't try more - were good, both scoring over a 4 - and they offer 8 to 10, maybe even 12 on tap, and there are a fair amount of other decent beers to be had as well (but who'd go to a brewpub and order beer that they could find somewhere else?).

All in all I thought it was a good stop, and although I didn't eat I saw people eating all around me and thought it looked good. I stopped in during the week and it seems like a popular lunch stop. Within the confines of State College, I'd recommend it.
