Maximón is a Mayan deity represented in various forms – also as a beer. A complex, moderately spicy, smooth and full-bodied Baltic Porter. There’s a hint of fruity chili combined with sweet and rich chocolate notes.

L: Pours a dark brown black with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly and no lacing on the glass.
S: Sweet milky chocolate with a hint of cinnamon, a notes of habanero pepper in the nose and some brown sugar. notes of Bourbon are also strong.
T: Very sweet with notes of cinnamon, milk chocolate and brown sugar and ends with a touch habanero heat at the end. There's sweet bourbon at the end.
F: Medium large body and cola like carbonation.
O: Definitely an interesting beer that comes off a bit sweet.

Aroma is deep cherrywood in character. Pours dark brown with a two finger head of foam that froths and bubbles. Taste is super complex; dark cherries, faint spiceness from the peppers, quite subdued amidst bourbon depth. Cinnamon is present, rounding out the spice in the profile. No one profile dominants and all sit at the adults table. As it warms, the spiciness increases. This is a nice sipping beer and a powerfully good Baltic porter.

Did not see habanero in the description when I bought this damn it. This is balanced and well put together, I just don't dig peppers in my beer all that much. My score will reflect that rather than my actual enjoyment.
There is a really nice sweet, nutty robust porter at the heart of this beast. The bourbon and vanilla are prominent while the cocoa and cinnamon add interesting accents in the background. All these elements work really well together, unencumbered, until the hot pepper comes out at the finish. Not my cup of tea but I this is damn good tea.

Bottle at Las Buenas Pulgas, served in a balloon glass. Black color, medium beige head with long retention, creamy beige lacing. Aroma of vanilla, cocoa, a bit of chili, roasted malts and tangerine. Full body, creamy texture, good carbonation, sweet and a bit hot finish. Taste shows a more prominent chili and tangerine, also vanilla, chocolate and nuts. Very good.
