This next horizontal as part of the eradication of The Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody is going to be fun, if nothing else. I first met co-owner & brewer Greg Schertzer at the Annual Capital City Invitational Beer Festival, held at Appalachian B.C. in Harrisburg several years ago & continuing. He seemed to be a passionate sort, but I wondered as to his sustainability. I no longer doubt in his longevity & he even came to The FGBS recently for a tasting of his wares. Howling Henry is his beagle, who sits in on every brew day & howls. Ha!

Nice add by my local, in-person trader, tone77, but I get the photo credit. Amazing that he & I are the first two to review this beer.
Henry was really howling as I Pop!ped the cap on this one. I think that he sensed that we were reaching the conclusion of our time together, with this beer being the penultimate in this horizontal. An in-glass swirl raised a brief finger of foamy, fizzy, tawny head that quickly reduced to wisps. Color was a slightly hazy Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM => 13, < 17). Nose had a honey-like breadiness, which is not unexpected in a lager. Mouthfeel was medium. Interestingly, as it warmed, the clarity increased, so it may have been an initial chill haze due to my reefer's internal temperature. The taste was very clean, very much of fresh bread & honey & probably my favorite of the lot to this point. Finish was semi-dry & the only reason that I did not characterize it as semi-sweet was its inherent alcohol. There was just enough of a fusel alcohol burn on the finish that I was able to take note of it. Still, this was quite good.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a pretty, bronze/amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of bready malts, some fruits. Taste is bready malts, alcohol, cherries, a bit boozy for a 7% beer. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, not exactly what I was expecting from this style, but an enjoyable beer nonetheless.
