Once in a while a Scotch ale really "wows" me. This is one of those times. It's a big boy at 8.7% abv but the alcohol is well-hidden. It has nice caramel flavor with some oak, vanilla, and a good hit of smoky peat...delicious. This was my favorite beer at Melms by far.
