this is very good ipa, one of my first few beers from lumpy ridge, and its way better than a whole range of other small brewery colorado ipas. its crystal clear honey colored, rich and shiny looking, with an excited and excitable white head of thick foam. real pretty beer, with frantic carbonation. aroma of juicy hops, very west coast style, oily and bitter too, but only after the strong citrus. grapefruit specifically for me, maybe a big dose of simcoe in here, but it seems to be a blend of different hop varietals working nicely in concert with one another. some mild grain sweetness in here, tastes a little like honey, not at all crystal malt kind of caramel sweetness, its more delicate than that. the hops show some orange in the flavor too, zesty and bright, the finish is clean despite the midway sweetness, and bitterness is quite high. this is a rather textbook example of the style, and while its not going to rewrite history or anything, they have don an outstanding job with it, and i would be quite happy to have this be a go to in my fridge for awhile. as good as any base ipa going in the denver area at the moment, a really pleasant surprise! thanks to my buddy for sharing this one with me, i might never have found it on my own. worth finding!
