Schooner on-tap at Duke's Corner, Dundee (£3.70):
A black & opaque bodied beer with a tiny lacing around the circumference of the beer that is beige in colour but doesn’t look particularly exciting. The nose does exactly what it says on the tin, coming through with a lot of chocolate & mint notes alongside some faintly milky notes & a little sweetness; there was even a hint of oak or wood towards the end too which wasn’t expected but was a nice touch. The taste was a little lighter than the nose with the mint & chocolate still coming through but they were definitely toned down a little to make way for more of the milky lactose notes & some faint smoke. Overall the beer was quite a smooth & balanced one with a semi-sweet feel & some sugars coming through towards the end; pleasant stuff & an unusual taste that actually worked out well.
