Badass Backyard Brewing

I visited Badass Backyard a few weeks back while exploring the valley brewery scene. Although the beer is not brewed on-site, it's still a great little taproom with an eclectic, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere. The bar itself is nice, and there's a cozy back room that seems exceptionally chill.

On my visit there were 13 beers on tap plus a watermelon seltzer. Styles included a golden ale, raspberry wheat, grapefruit radler *and* lemon shandy, tangerine wheat, amber, brown, a pair of stouts, a pair of IPAs, and two sours (lemon and margarita). An interesting bunch; definitely a very summertime vibe to the style list. I had a flight, and the brown and the coffee stout were my favorites, though the session hazy was not bad. The margarita sour was interesting, but a bit sweet for my taste.

Service up at the bar was friendly. Evidently the owner/brewer bartends a lot of the time, but sadly this was not the case when I was there.

i always think its cool when the person making the beer also tends the bar, and i think that was the case here, despite her not saying so, its cool to get that experience, even in a small and modest place like this, so respect for that, super nice and friendly and welcoming and informative too, love that vibe. the place is small, strip mall located, humble, a working brewery, and they have a winding bar, handful of taps, chalkboard menu, and absolutely zero pretension. low key space, seems more about beer than decor, cool with that. not a ton of beers on but they have a cool mix, hot pepper red ale, coffee stout, bunch of others. everything was clever but nothing was special, like the ideas area a bound in front of the execution, but thats not a bad place to be and i could easily see the best of both worlds coming out of here soon, the blonde was the closest to the mark. real good conversation here, less good beer, but all of it was fun, and i have some reverence for what is happening in the place. i like a mellow spot like this, dig the creativity, and just wish the execution could be brought up a step, then it would be awesome. looking forward to checking back in here soon...
