Greatful North uses the same hops (Citra, Amarillo, Cascade), grains and yeast as our dry-hopped pale ale Tie Dyed, but just more of it! This double dry-hopped Imperial Pale Ale is big and bold, but with a dangerously smooth finish.

From a 16 oz. can dated 07/11/2023. Sampled July 21, 2023. Ten days old.
The appearance is golden amber with a moderate white head and good clarity. Not a hazy IPA.
The aroma expresses grains, bread, pine, fruit, and basically no alcohol for over 9%.
Medium mouthfeel.
The taste is sweet with a pine and fruity bitterness that tumbles in at the finish. Lingers. Almost burns. This is something interesting.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed orange amber color with a small head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading over time and leaving a touch of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a grapefruit citrus smell mixed with a good showing of tangerine and orange. Along with these citrus smells comes notes of herbal hops and some mango and papaya. Other bready and cracker malt aromas are there as well, and with a decent showing of pine, a rather hoppy and inviting aroma is produced overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready malt flavor with lots of pine and herbal hop. While the citrus is heavier in the nose, it is lighter on the tongue, with a smaller presence of grapefruit and orange. While the citrus is a bit lighter, there are fruit flavors of mango and papaya as well as a bit of apricot. Some graininess and earthy flavors develop as the taste advances, with a touch of alcohol joining at the end, and leaving one with a rather pleasant and warming hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is moderately thick and chewy with a lower carbonation level. For the mix of hop flavors and dark nature coupled with a bit of malt and fruit, the feel is rather nice and creates a slower sipper.
Overall – A rather nice brew overall. A good hop and malt blend with a approachable, but forewarning taste and feel.

Greatful North Great North Aleworks IPA Imperial / Double
Notes:
Whoa, it's a clear amber color. Zero haze, healthy white fluffy head. Sweet pine and zesty citrus hop flavor balanced with a rather large dose of amber style malts. This is old school balance, 2XIPA style. No thick haze here just straight beasty IPA. Feel is rather mellow, smooth but a bit relaxed. Peppery booze rides in with sweet fruitiness and more "pencil shaving" style dry earth notes in the finish.

Pours a hazy orange color with a small fluffy head and lots of lacing.
Smells of bright floral hops from the can. Once in the glass, smells of pineapple and tart citrus come out.
Tastes of tart grapefruit and sweet pineapple and mango. There is a lightly bitter hop finish. The alcohol hides well.
Medium body with light prickly carbonation. Lightly syrupy mouthfeel.
This is a very pleasant nuanced NEIPA .
2/21/23 - 9.1% now. Still recommended

Having a 10oz pour ($6.50) right now at the brewpub.... sitting outside in 60°F temps.... Hell yeah!!
Small sniftah holds a medium golden, slightly hazy brew. Has a fine, frothy white head which ebbs to a thin covering, though with top-shelf lacing.
Aroma is of lovely pineapple, grapefruit, and apricot. The body is a solid medium, with a fairly smooth feel on the tongue.
Taste has some crackery, slightly sweet malts to lead off. Has more grapefruit and pineapple, with some rindy, pithy action. More tropical citrus hits the palate, though it's not quite as sweet as the aroma would suggest. Finishes on the dry, slightly bitter side. Solid!! Prosit!!!

Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass canned on 3/1/2021. Pours a hazy light orange with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves thin lines of lace with nice retention. 4.25
Aroma is ripe melon, peach, pineapple, mandarin, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4
Taste follows cantaloupe, peach, mandarin, pineapple, apricot, and white grapefruit. 4
Mouthfeel is bigger than average, not dry or sticky, maybe a little more carbonation than most in the style, and at 8.7% very easy going down. 4.25
Overall this is a nice NEDIPA, I would recommend for sure. Nothing earth shattering but a nice all around example of the style. 4

Can from the Packie.
Pours just shy of clear and a light gold in color with a frothy white head that persists. Earthy pine and lots of citrus and tropical fruits atop a sweet bready maltinesss and just a touch of alcohol warming.
