Mocking the craft beer "check-in" culture with artwork that makes a cartoon of beer reviews, ratings and ticking to nearly pin-point perfection. The brewers at Cooperage create a classic American styled pale ale but with a Mosaic hop laden twist.
Deep gold and commonly hazy, Curt pours with a frothy eggshell cap in the traditional appearance of pale. Sharp aromas of tropical fruit, berries and tea decorate the nose while the taste starts out sweet with honeysuckle, agave and with the slightness of bread crust.
Any malt balance reduces to a supporting role while the hops glide across the middle palate with hints of lime, passionfruit, white grapefruit, under ripened orange, gooseberry and passionfruit. The hops truly are a mosaic of flavor. Trending spicy in its bitterness, a more tea-like flavor brings out the dryness of cedar, verbena, sassafras, pepper and matcha.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the malty-dry character of the beer is tight in its textures and succinct to allow the hops to shine. A medium length afterglow of fruit rinds and peppery grassiness shines the light on the fact that Mosaic hops need a little more support in a classic pale ale recipe.
