Yet another selection from the 23rd annual dipa festival in Hayward, CA last Saturday. This was my 3rd beer of the day/morning.
Pours a dark golden color, good clarity. 1/2" white head when scaled. Aroma hits 2/3 down under hops, Nelson named, better be good. But in fact, it was slightly lacking, or actually, big time lacking when you see Rakau as well. Had a light citrus nose, but lacked the namesake dankness. If there was any lean, it was away from the dankness.
The taste melded a light tropical aspect with more citrus. Had both the rind and flesh like citrus taste, so you're getting that diversified bitter and sweet thing, but still leaning bitter moreso in the mouth feel (thankfully so). Didn't make 8% drink like water, but still a good brisk, kind of dry mouth feel, I got a lotta money and I need a little honey pretty girl. The tropical hop aspects are very minimal, there is more of a grassy, herbal bitter component to this one.
This is all I came to do.
