DATE: April 22, 2017... OCCASION: licking my wounds after an auspicious start to baseball (32-4!) and taking in the last episode of Game of Thrones' season 6... GLASSWARE: Schneider edel-weisse pokal... pours from a four-hours young growler an almost black body that intimates dark and malty intentions... the head is thin, white and a constant ring... first aromas of banana, clove, chocolate, merlot, grape, candied sugars, caramel--a large, dramatic breath can be drawn... a full-bodied sip, with a strong, memorable finish... some cola, some effervescence, but undoubtedly a strong, rewarding maltiness... pepper, rye, chocolate, sweet dough, robust caramel and fruity esters combine to create a dessertif of a beer... nice, thick lacing that covers whole fingers at a a time... an assertive, confident beer that breaks from the traditional beers I have had from Czig Meister....
