2018 aged. Pours jet black with a coffee colored creamy head. Smell malts, hot pretzel, cacao, coffee. Taste chocolate, coffee, some booze, Feel is incredibly light and fluffy for a big ABV beer. Finishes juicy. Overall this is a solid stout.

I was certaintly hopeful for this beer. But I think it was just the artwork that ultimately enticed me. This is not a bad beer but not great either. The most notable flavor profile of this beer is the taste of perfectly baked pretzel. Reminiscent of the bitter and toasted scent of a pretzel stand in NYC. If this beer nailed one thing, albeit unintentionally, that was it.

eyes...
one full (plump) finger of craggy brown head, settles rather quickly but does not completely disappear into the ether either, just held it up, and yep no light is even bothering to try and crash this party, better to go around and live another day than get sucked into the event horizon blackness therein, lacing is average but this one does show the legs of the higher abv clinging on to glass, above average but not my much
nose...
the vanilla and cacao conditioning is at the front door, just holding back the alcohol (you can almost sense it), definite dark chocolate notes with a slight hint of licorice, bitterness that hints of espresso or flat out dark brew coffee, pretty balanced, a nice mix
taste etc...
immediately you get thickness, this is barely liquid, the carbonation is very smooth, not quite velvety enough but nice, the flavor is very dominated by the vanilla, the cacao seems to want to fight back but there is too much vanilla here, also this is quite sweet. not cloying... but man it comes close to that line where you pucker your mouth from sugary overdrive, I suppose the strongest point here is that you do not sense the ABV at all
verdict?
cool bottle (artwork), but a middle of the road offering, like many styles these days you are dipping your toes in some big boy water so you better bring your A game to compete to be elite

Solid black color with an above average body. Has a nice thick feel, overall a great body .
Aroma is espresso, roasted malt, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate candy .
Taste for the most part follows the nose with coffee, espresso, roasted malt and coffee beans dominating. Bakers chocolate and cocoa rounds out the taste and gives this an overall nice combination of flavors.
I would look for this and seek this out again . This brewery seems to put out decent beers consistently
