Picked this up recently at ShopRite Liquors in Little Falls, as this was the first Czig Meister beer that I ever had out of a can. I also had no idea that this was an anniversary beer both because of the label and how unassuming and slightly off-style it was, given it's description.

This was quite murky and fitting for a New England IPA - at least in hue. A moderate amount of bubbly, dark foam topped it off as it was a bit short of what I'd see at the sea when it came to how fast it dissipated. Dark gold in hue with a few dark sediments settling to the bottom, there was *no* lacing to be seen whatsoever as I worked my way through this. Lots of alphonso mango, turbid citrus and lime, and booze in the muted nose as some cream, pineapple slickness, papaya, star fruit, and a hint of vanilla emerged in the taste. the latter smoothed this out although this never quite felt like a milkshake beer to me. Sharp and acrid, only a bit of the sweetness lingered in the piercing aftertaste as this was lightly carbonated and subtly cloying once everything fully went down.

The aftertaste was intense and burning as there was some hints of dew and dankness that lingered in the midst of everything else. More sweetness and fullness would have been great but as it was, this was an average IPA that checked of all of the proverbial boxes. Dated 6/11 on the bottom of the can, this would almost have to be consumed right away to fully appreciate, but at least the label was humorous and artful enough. Worth a go once when Tired Hands isn't accessible.

DATE: July 11, 2021... OCCASION: Shark Week 2021 begins anew, and I am still interested... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... must state the obvious: the kids loved the label's Pokemon homage, and I appreciate the artwork and presentation as well... that said, the beer is more OJ than milkshake, its head settling to a flat nothing burger above an opaque orange body tinted a bit darker than orange juice... still out on how I feel about beers that look NOTHING like beer... mango and pineapple pound the nose, with hints of vanilla and lactic milkiness backing it up... BIG aroma turns into a biting, acidic burn in the mouthfeel, tart and electric at the finish... the lactose creates a creaminess that softens the effects.... the citrus is intense--pineapple and grapefruit crush the profile, with mango and vanilla creating a more complex experience... this cloys a bit much for my liking, but its flavor impact is undeniable, and its milkshake aspect blunts the sharpness ever so much... one can may be enough for me, but I have another to take in.... overall, I like the experience with this one--it is refreshing and evocative of a tropical island drink...
