Our sour ale pays homage to the sundial, a beautiful and precise tool that measures time using shadows cast by the sun. The brewing process for sours is far more time intensive than traditional styles, but the wait is worth it! DATE: January 28, 2024... OCCASION: bolstering my spirit on the eve of surgery, I take on a beer I bought for the Christmas season but somehow failed to drink then... GLASSWARE : Lindemans footed pokal... pours an opaque orange-amber body that sends tiny streams of bubbles upward, creating a flat, hazy froth... bright cranberry, orange juice, barnyard funk, honey and aromatic spices suggest a fruity cocktail... this is warming, slightly acidic, active and fizzy from the teeth to the throat, and lingers as an unapologetic smoothness... the cranberry merges with citrus (lime, orange, tangerine) to make a holiday punch with some kick... this doesn't have a big presence, nor does it have a complex profile, but it is a juicy, fizzy, seasonally fitting Sundial...
