Supple & crisp, this delectable dark lager has a medium body which starts with a chocolate roast and ends with ordering it again.

This is an excellent beer, and I completely agree that it is GABF medal-worthy. Very well balanced and a great representation of the style, which not enough brewers make. If you like dark lagers give this a go.

12 oz can undated can.
Appearance. Dark brown body with a short, semi-durable beige head that manages to leave plenty of lacing sticking to my glass.
There's little too criticize in this exceptional Dunkel. Only the thin body is worth mentioning. The aroma and flavor are rich, clean and bold Fort the style.

Bought locally, no dating on the can.
It pours a dark brown with a small off white head of foam, has some lacing.
It smells roasty, bits of dark chocolate, little bit of bitterness. Smell is kind of weak.
The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, hints of nut, toffee. Pretty mildly flavoured.
Good mouthfeel.
I'd drink this again.

Pours a nice shade of darker brown, moderate cap, with ample fine lacing.
Nuts and milk chocolate sniff.
On the palate is more of the same, a bit of sweet, again nuts and chocolate goodness.
Smooth and tasty….went just fine with thanksgiving apps and the bird.
Well worth a try.

Dark but clear varnished wood brown with a khaki head of moderately short height.
This has a woody but not sharp roast, coming just shy of porter while still exhibiting a tangy cocoa-tobacco before finishing powder dry after a round and frothy middle.

On tap at Brasserie Brixton (Denver, CO), served in a tall, handled glass mug. Opaque, deep mahogany brown, with a nice crown of tan foam. Balanced aromas of roasted malt, chocolate and dark bread. Deep malty flavors of roasted grains, dried fruit, caramel and earthy bitterness. Medium body and light but lively carbonation. A nicely balanced malty lager.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass a thin dark tan head is formed. Color is dark brown and 90% opaque.
Nose is dark roasted grain and/or malt, light brown sugar cookie like biscuit notes and a hint of herbal hops.
On the palate the fist impression is one of a thin stout without much of the dark roast taste. There is not much of the cookie/ "biscuit" note in the flavor profile, more of a roast grain porridge. It is not sweet or bitter. Comes off as a bit bland overall.
Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium and is silky smooth with light carbonation and a slightly thickened finish.
Having tried Wibby's Double Dunkel and loving it, this is a disappointment for me. It is a well made beer and not bitter like some Dunkel, but not exciting either. To me it comes off as a thinner stout or brown ale without as much character.

12oz with no freshness dating visible, opened 8-30-20.
1 finger sand colored head, retains well at 1/4" solid then down to a thin cap before disappearing.
Mahogany, cola color with good clarity when held to the light. Light lacing.
Roasted grain, mild coffee aroma, light baking spice, and a hint of sourdough.
Sweet grain, mild chocolate/baking cocoa, sour and bready pumpernickel flash. Some dark fruit.
Medium body, low-medium carbonation. Drying, slightly chalky mouthfeel. Medium length and off-dry finish.
Very Good.

Appearance: Pours clear and cola brown with a two finger tan head and a modest bubble show; spotty lacing
Smell: Toasted brown bread with hints of caramel and dark fruit
Taste: Toasted brown with hints of caramel and fig; some earthy bitterness, in the middle, but the finish is dominated by the malt
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Always good to return to a well-done version of one of the classic German styles, particularly after weeks of sours and IPAs
