I'm not big on additives, but this one is over the bar, like many from Carton.
a) Rousing white head over muddy, clotted apricot body. Lasts and laces big. 4.5
s) From the crack, pineapple and coconut, pina colada for sure. Adds some vanilla.
t) Fill out further, with more vanilla, blossoms, orchid greenhouse.
f) Pillowy, creamy, dries in finale away from the sweet.
o) Great original effort. Clean.

 

DATE: August 18, 2022... OCCASION: enjoying the last Friday eve of "summer hours" with a beer I enjoyed at Jer's--Penn State definitely stocks the RR! GLASSWARE: Victory HopDevil... pours an opaque, muddy brownish tan body that builds a chunky, half-fingered off-white head that smears the glass well enough... thick coconut, vanilla, tart pineapple and a hint of flowers--light and refreshing at the nose, and pretty accurate to its boozier inspiration... creamy, soft, pillowy at the tongue... almost apologetic in its mouthfeel, it leaves an articulate memory for the next sip... it is a bit thin in the middle, but its ABV suggests that is not a detriment... the coconut and vanilla play nicely here, and despite the lack of slushiness expected from a pina colada, the experience refreshes--sweet and sour balance, though nothing approximates the rum--could this have been heavier in the ABV to do the trick? not a gimmicky beer--the flavor is solid and offers no odd residual...
