1st review of this beer on BA. Consumed June 2020. Another one of those free shipping orders from Casa Agria. Lemme tell you, being in a rural area that kept life going during the plandemic, it was pretty nice to then have all these beer options at my doorstep.
Pours yellow and lightly hazy. 1/3" white head. This is a pretty cool beer label on it. So the big draw on this beer is that it uses the Zappa hop, which is derived from that neomexicanus wild hop. Part of what is disappointing, is they make it difficult to get to know this hop, as the commercial tug job claims it was used in equal parts dry hop with Citra and Mosaic. You end up with what is essentially a Citra/Mosaic citrus/tropical fruit nose combo, and really having to search to pick up Zappa's attributes. I guess you could say there was the slightest lemon/lime impact familiar to neomexicanus stuff.
Taste was nice, aroma hops continued to impart the same characteristics taste wise as they did in the aroma realm. Body was light, drinkability was high. Moderate bitterness that is appreciated. I'd say this beer does everything well, except giving an unobstructed view of what Zappa brings to the table.
