75 cl
Pours opaque black, tan head dissipates to nothing.
Aroma of fig, molasses, grape, honey, biscotti, cocoa, and oak.
Flavor is fig, cocoa, raisin, biscotti, molasses, mesquite, tobacco, oak, and bourbon.
Medium body, minimal carbonation.
This came out along side the gold wax variant which I reviewed a couple days ago. My understanding is that the beer is the same base product aged in slightly different barrels, maybe for different periods of time? Either way I find this one to be slightly superior to the other. Whereas I felt the other really needed time to condition in bottle, this one is closer to a finished product right now. It still has some of the same shortcomings: mediocre body and borderline cloying richness, what is there meshes together well. I could drink more of this again without waiting. But like the gold variant, I looked forward to trying this with some age in the bottle as I suspect it will only get better.
