This beer is deep ruby in color with a medium body. Its undeniably chocolate accented malt character is sharply contrasted by the aggressive flavor and aroma of cascade hops. Its finish is clean and dry.

Appearance: Near black body, though, when held aloft, some ruby-hued accents are noted at the far edges. Thin film of light tan foam.

Smell: Full roasty tones and a touch of bittersweet chocolate marked by citrus hops and worrisome, biting acrid notes.

Taste: Dark roasted malts with an acrid pop of burnt coffee. There's some hints of sweet chocolate, but it's not nearly enough to things smooth. Lemon and grapefruit tastes from the American-born hops. Ample bitterness joining in with the burnt grain astringency. Bitterish and deeply roasty at the end. Finishes quite dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.

Drinkability: A bit sub-par. The harshness of the overdone grain astringency certainly holds back the beer's drinkability.

Black with ruby around the edges. Large, dense light tan head. The aroma is chock full of roast, with a bit of smokiness just underneath.. The flavor is that of not-quite burnt toast. There’s a slight hop bitterness in the finish that turns a little harsh with the dark malts toward the end. The harshness that arrives as the beer warms is really its only flaw. Awesome porter.
