This beer style is also known as “dry stout.” It is brewed exclusively with pale malt, roasted barley and flaked barley. This stout showcases a roasted flavor in the absence of sweetness with a silky yet light body that finishes dry. Served on a nitrogen tap.

Nitro-tap at the brewpub.
Pours black with a one-finger tan head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of lightly roasted malts with a good deal of dark chocolate aromas that intensify as the beer warms.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Robust roasted malts with very light hints of char kick things off. Midway through the sip the flavor profile sweetens a bit and dark chocolate flavors come into play. The ending is mildly bitter.
Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is good. I didn't have any problems finishing my glass and could have another.
Overall this was a nice and robust beer for the style - well made and easy to drink. Worth a shot.

I tried this house Irish Stout at the Copper Creek Brewing Co. in Athens, GA. It came in a standard pint glass. The color is a black with a fairly solid off-white head that leaves good lacing. It has all the classic earmarks of an Irish Dry Stout. It has a light dry nose with a hint of deep scented floral hops. The taste is a rich but dry roasted grain flavor. Very similar to a Murphy's or Guinness but this beer has a better finish. The mouthfeel is a creamy medium mouthfeel. Really enjoyed this beer.
