On tap at the Surf 'N' Suds Beer Festival held at Carpenteria State Beach in Carpenteria, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, lactose, and coconut aromas. Taste is much the same with coconut, nut, cocoa powder, and lactose flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a macadamia nut presence that I am only getting in the flavor.
