This Northwest Red Ale is a hop extravaganza! Orange citrus hop flavors intertwine with a malt-driven, bittersweet chocolate body and balanced by aromas of spice, dark fruit and dank herb.

Taster at brewery. Medium, clear amber, small skin of head. Malty aroma gets bitter upon first sip. Bitter bite lingers, erading any sign of the malts.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark orange red with a one finger off-white head with that dissipates to a thin film with light lacing. Aroma of pale and biscuit malt, red berries, faint cocoa and a hint of hops. Flavor is pale, lightly toasted and biscuit malt, berries with light tartness, hints of cocoa and grassy hops; slightly astringent hop finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Has the red berry and malty character I look for in a red, but also some interesting heavier biscuit/lightly toasted malt notes. Berry flavors are a somewhat more tart than most ales of this style and the hops are little more forward. I like the heavier hopping through most of the taste, but it is a bit astringent in the finish. A like most of its deviation from style, but it is a little unbalanced. It is nice to see another red ale though, they are not that common.
