16oz can, 2.5 months old, generously gifted from someone connected to the brewery.
Pours two big fingers of frothy white head into my willi becher glass. Retention is very nice so far and nearly a finger remains after close to 5 minutes. Initial lacing looks wonderful. Body is a lovely golden orange, crystal clear (thank god), with a medium amount of bubbles coming up. Looks quite nice so far.
Nose is full of bright effervescent hops, a touch of dankness that is quickly drowned out by citrus, tropical notes of mango, and a little bit of malt sweetness that comes across a little syrupy at times. Wish I got that dank hop aroma to linger longer, but this smells nice and inviting.
Flavor is nice, however some of those malts are coming through a little more syrupy than usual, could be oxidation, sometimes that’s how I perceive that. However, within minutes that flavor is all but swallowed up by the rest of the beer, that’s the advantage of using lots of hops folks. The citrus is modest, but nice and crisp. Some might think the hops are also a little vegetal, but to me it just seems fresh and green, no complaints. The smallest touch of tropical fruit in the finish, but hardly detectable. This is really nice.
Carbonation is a little over medium. Body has a little weight to it, but drinks pretty light. A little sweetness, definitely not dry, but very well balanced by the assertive bitterness and adequate hop presence. It has a nice bite to it. Impressive feel.
Drinkability is phenomenal, this is going down faster than I can review it.
The appearance turned out beautiful, thick lacing all the way down.
Very refreshing beer that got better over time. By the end of the glass the hops were asserting themselves very nicely. There were some questionable malt flavors, but that was all but forgotten by the end of the glass.

From a 16oz. can purchased at the beer store.
Seem to be reviewing single hop beers tonight. This one is Citra, obviously. Dry-hopped it says. Very subtle on the nose, just a hint of tartness with a very light grain aroma underneath. Flavor is also subdued, grapefruit and herbal with almost no malt at all. Medium-light mouthfeel with lots of bubbles. This is a summer beer for Citra fans.
