Reviewed from notes taken in Sofia, Bulgaria in January 2016. This is a stout brewed with chili peppers.
A: Pours more of a schwarzbier black, which is to say it's weak and not solid. Cola-esque. Head is thin and weak; consistency is poor. Retention is above ve average for the high ABV - about 3-4 minutes.
Sm: Dry chili powder with no concomitant heat or spice. Dark malts. Cocoa powder.
T/Mf: Odd coffee-like acidity. Weak dark malts form the (lack of) backbone. Faint spiceless heatless chili powder. Shallow cocoa powder. Weak, undercarbonated, smooth, wet, Unrefreshing.
Unbalanced, shallow, simplistic, and rudimentary. Borders on watery. Cola-like. Surprisingly insipid for a chili stout, lacking adequate chili presence and requisite roasted barley.
O: A huge letdown, especially as a follow-up to the magnitudes better White Stork Original. Even at Bulgarian prices, this just isn't worth bothering with. Poor for the style, whether that's chili beer or stout.
D (2.17) / AVOID
