Combatting the notion that light, crisp and refreshing beers need be void of character, the talents a Monnik Beer challenge this notion with a light bodied, dry saison that stands tall on fruit, spice and a special little pep of ginger.
Ginger Saison rises in the glass with a breaming, sparkling pale gold hue and an arid, spritzy froth to cap the rim. The nose carries a pep of exotic spice along with vinous fruits, natural peppery nature and a zesty grain scent which all precede a dry sweetness of sparkling white wine, wafer crackers and fresh dough.
Trending dry and moderate, the middle palate carries a zip of flavor that favors a scant malt sweetness and the fruity dance of apple, orange and white grape. Balancing white pepper and ginger takes a bold ginger lead heading deeper into the session. A light hop bite offers hints of bamboo shoots, lemongrass and its own peppery bitterness to assist with the beer's spice-forward balance.
Delivering on dry and refreshing flavors and textures, the ale leaves a minty cooling sensation on the palate and throat that's reinvigorating to the senses and crisp on the tongue. In try ginger ale form, this is a near perfect ale for a pairing with the most adventurous Thai plates imaginable.
